Dermaplaning, Vellus Hair Removal

Dermaplaning is a skin care treatment that gently removes dead skin cells and vellus hair (aka peach fuzz) from your skin’s surface with a surgical blade using gentle strokes. As a result of this type of exfoliation, the skin looks brighter and radiant. Your skincare products will penetrate your skin better when you apply them, making them all more effective. Makeup looks more even and flawless. Additional benefits include: more even skin tone, a reduction in appearance of fine lines, reduced number of milia, closed and open comedones, and fewer minor breakouts associated with congested pores.

What should I expect during my treatment?

We perform a professional analysis of your skin prior to your first dermaplaning treatment to determine whether this treatment is right for you.

Dermaplaning is safe, effective, easy and completely painless. Dermaplaning is a procedure that takes less than an hour to complete, so it can be done on your lunch break or fit into a busy schedule. Your practitioner will begin the treatment by gently cleaning your skin. Once the skin is thoroughly cleansed, your practitioner will feather the blade over your skin in gentle strokes. Following the procedure, moisturizer and sunscreen will be applied. There is no downtime and you will be able resume your daily activities immediately.

After your treatment, sunscreen (SPF 30+) MUST be worn at all times during the day. Tanning beds should be avoided. These measures will help protect your investment in your appearance and prolong the benefits of these treatments.

More sensitive skin may experience redness after the first couple of sessions. Typically, this goes away after 2-3 hours. It is also possible to experience some dryness or peeling a few days afterward. This is completely normal, however, if you have any concerns, please contact our office at 860.657.1064.

Dermaplaning may cause minor superficial abrasions which may appear within a few days after your treatment. If this should occur, please contact our office so that we can do a post-treatment follow-up with you.

Best results are obtained by receiving a series of dermaplaning treatments followed by a supportive and harmonious home skin care regimen. We can help you maximize your results by reviewing your skin care products and make recommendations based on your goals and needs.
