Xeomin, the newest FDA approved neuro-inhibitor, (incobotulinumtoxinA), has had rave reviews at Medspa1064.  Having been chosen to premier Xeomin in the greater Hartford area, Medspa1064’s clients’  feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.  With the results comparable to other neuro-inhibitors, we can now offer clients a choice in products to treat unwanted frown lines.

Xeomin is a neuro similar to Botox and Dysport that is FDA approved to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults.  It is now available at Medspa1064.

What is the cause of wrinkles and facial expression lines?

Lines and wrinkles develop, at least in part, from the action of facial muscles under the skin. After years, furrows may remain along these facial expression lines even without any active facial muscle expression. The development of these lines is promoted by years of sun exposure, and to from these facial muscles. Xeomin is capable of preventing the unwanted facial expression lines and improves or blends the wrinkles that were visible while the muscles were at rest.

How does Xeomin work?

Xeomin acts by immobilizing the muscle at treated sites. It does this by inhibiting contraction of the targeted muscles. Only those muscles producing these undesirable lines are treated.

How is it different then Botox?

According to our experience, the two products are very similar taking the same amount time to take effect and lasting about as long.

What areas can you use Xeomin for?

Frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet lines and forehead wrinkles are effectively treated with the Xeomin. The treatment takes a few minutes and the Xeomin takes effect in three to four days. Patients return to work or other activities immediately after treatment.

How is treatment performed and how many treatments are required?

A small quantity of solution is injected directly into the muscles that are the cause of the prominent furrowing or expression lines. Typically several injections are given with each treatment, and one treatment is usually effective for 3-6 months. Each patient metabolizes Xeomin at different rates so the treatment may last longer than others, or not as long.

Are there any limitations after treatment?

Yes. Don’t touch the area for about an hour, then refrain from rubbing down on the area until you see the effect, you may wash your face gently and apply makeup that evening.

Can Xeomin cause botulism?

No. This is not a toxin but the purified protein that prevents the muscles from squeezing.  Extraordinarily small amounts of Xeomin are administered. These quantities are insufficient to cause botulism or any related symptoms.
